The complete Harry Potter series in nearly fine hardcover first Australian/first printing copies published by Bloomsbury Australia. All volumes are present in their respective first Australian printngs, save HP and the Prisoner of Azkaban which is a first Canadian Edition/First Printing. All are mostly in exceptional condition and of gift quality. A super gift for Christmas. Also, the texts of these books are the same as the UK editions which read slightly differently than their US counterparts.

Near Fine++ in Fine- Dust Jacket, a really nice copy with typical toning to the text-block, probably read once or twice, common with UK editions published prior to 2000, and may have been read but in a nearly perfect jacket with just a nick or two here or there. The Ted Smart edition is essentially a book club, released about the same time as this edition, and the Deluxe Edition wasn't released until 1999. If you think you're going to find a first hardcover printing of the first UK edition of HP and the Philosopher's Stone for cheap, think again! Fine in Fine- in clipped dust jacket Dust Jacket possibly a UK jacket and the Australian publishers clipped it because of the price in pounds-sterling? Overall, a really nice copy almost NO sign of reading wear with minimal toning to the text-block, common with UK editions published prior to 2000 in a nearly perfect jacket save the front flap lower corner clip. SPECIAL NOTE for HP and the Prisoner of Azkaban Australian and Canadian First Editions: For reasons not clear to me, the First Australian Hardcover Edition/First Printing of HP and the Prisoner of Azkaban is an exceptionally rare if not scarce HP hardcover printing prior to the fourth HP title, which why this set includes the Canadian first printing and not the Australian. At this writing I can find NO copies of the first hardcover Australian edition/first printing for sale. The theory posits that Bloomsbury-Australia didn't print their own copies until a second printing.

Even slightly later Australian hardcover printings tend to be rare. But it is baffling that HP and the Philosopher's Stone and Chamber of Secrets are not nearly as scarce in the first Australian printing as HP Prisoner of Azkaban, even though the first two titles are fairly rare. Fine- in Fine- Dust Jacket, a really nice copy with a touch of reading wear and typical toning to the text-block. A touch of edge-wear to the jacket mainly at the corners. NOTE on the UK/Australian/Canadian Editions of the Harry Potter books : The true first editions/first printings of the Harry Potter books were issued by Bloomsbury UK. The first three use the printing number-line.

"HP and the Order of the Phoenix" was published in two issues (or states): a children's issue with the dust jacket art in red and yellow colors which is probably the more desirable of the two and an adult issue in black, brown and gray colors on the dust jacket. The UK editions of the Harry Potter books read slightly differently than the US versions.

Sadly, editors at Scholastic US felt American children wouldn't understand some of the British-English phrases and words so they "Americanized" the text. Some of the US text reads a bit clumsy. In my opinion, the UK text is far superior and reads lighter, faster, wittier and ultimately easier than the more clunky US texts. NOTE: All modern books with dust jackets come with dust jacket covers. ALSO: The pictures are of the actual items for sale. The pictures are NOT stock photos.
